Graduation Ceremony for MUL English Division Graduates 2017


On 14 June MUL Didactic Centre hosted the Graduation Ceremony where 42 graduates of Medicine and Dentistry faculties at English Division received their Diplomas.

The event attracted over 200 guests, mostly the graduates’ families and friends, who arrived from i.a. Canada, USA, China, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, India, Norway, Spain, Nigeria and Ukraine.

The ceremony was hosted by prof. Lucyna Wożniak, Vice-Rector for Research an International Relations and prof. Andrzej Głąbiński, Vice-Dean for Studies in English. The guests of honour included: prof. Jurek Olszewski, Dean of Military-Medical Faculty,           prof. Jerzy Sokołowski, Vice-Dean for Development of Education at Dentistry Division, prof. Henryk Witas, Vice-Dean for Teaching and Student Affairs at Faculty of Biomedical Sciences and Postgraduate Training, and prof. Łukasz Sułkowski, a representative of Clark University in Poland.

Hippocratic Oath taking and Diploma awarding were the highlights of the ceremony. The best graduates of 2017 were the first to be presented their diplomas:

  • Sigurd Ask Torvund, Norway – MD program
  • Julia Kovtsun, Ukraina – MD program
  • Krystyna Kabacińska, Polska – DMD program

The top graduates were also given certificates of achievement, gifts and a round of warm applause! Traditional speeches were given by outstanding students and the President of MUL English Division Student Government, who awarded the following students for their remarkable contribution for academic community:

  • Jeffrey Lee, USA – 6-year program
  • Alexandra Hul, Kanada – 4-year program
  • Rebecca Vassallo, Malta – 4-year program

Christopher Marski, Kanada –  4-year program

The graduates also awarded the best academic teachers with Teacher of the Year awards, which went to:

  • Dr Piotr Hogendorf from the Department of General and Transplant Surgery
  • Adam Durczyński from the Department of General and Transplant Surgery
  • Dr Piotr Ślusarski from the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry

An emotional speech was given by the previous year’s graduate, Timothy Mankowski, who encouraged his younger friends to professional and personal development.

A riveting performance by the university’s choir was an artistic complement to the evening, which was finished with ‘Gaudeamus igitur’ sang together by all the participants.
