MUL researchers will design new sleep measurement mattress


National Centre for Research and Development has announced of the winners of the application projects submitted in the competition within the framework of Smart Growth Operational Programme.  ”Sorest: active mattress for contactless sleep measurement and modulation” was one of 34 projects competing for funds.  The aim of the project is to design and launch into the market an intelligent mattress whose technology will provide additional functional benefits: dynamic positioning of specific body parts, appropriate body maintenance during sleep and all-day monitoring of physiological variables.

The project is being carried out by a consortium composed of Medical University of Lodz and Summit Technology Ltd. The clinical evaluation process will be designed and conducted by the team from the Interdepartmental Chair of Experimental and Clinical Physiology of MUL, headed by Prof. Dariusz Nowak, content and substantive coordinator of the project. Maciej Król, MD PhD will be a medical expert in charge of the clinical  evaluation of the developing technology with regard to the intended application i.e.  promotion of sleep disturbance treatment.

The project total budget amounted to PLN 5.2 million and the funds awarded to MUL totalled over PLN 3.6 million.
