2ND EDITION OF THE TECH4LIFE CONFERENCE: DATA IN HEALTH WITH EXPERTS FROM THE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY OF ŁÓDŹ
On December 4th, the 2nd edition of the Tech4Life conference was held at the EC1 Center in Łódź, focusing on current issues at the intersection of technology and health.
The main theme of the event was “Data in Health,” a topic that has sparked numerous controversies, discussions, and concerns in recent years. Health data, which is particularly sensitive, is subject to strict protection under the GDPR, and its proper management is crucial for patient welfare.
Distinguished experts, who regularly address the challenges of protecting health data, answered questions regarding medical data and the safe management of this information. Topics included data storage, processing, transmission, and utilization—for research, statistical, and practical purposes—in ways that protect patient privacy while advancing medical progress. The conference also covered modern AI-based technologies that can support these processes, as well as the standards and best practices in this rapidly developing field.
The opening lecture was delivered by Prof. Paweł Ptaszyński, Deputy Director for Medical and Organizational Affairs at the Central Clinical Hospital, a member of the Conference’s Program Council. He focused on the key challenges related to health data management, emphasizing their importance in improving the healthcare system’s organization and their impact on medical decisions and patient well-being.
Among the speakers were leading experts from technology, law, and medicine, including Prof. Wojciech Fendler, President of the Medical Research Agency and Head of the Department of Biostatistics and Translational Medicine at our university; Jakub Adamski, Director of the Cooperation Department at the Patient Rights Ombudsman’s Office; Magdalena Janus-Hibner, Deputy Director for Development and Organization of Oncology Projects at the M. Kopernik Hospital in Łódź; and Agnieszka Kubera, Managing Director at Accenture Poland.
The guest list also included representatives from organizations such as Philips, Google Poland, Amazon Web Services, and the Polish Federation of Hospitals.
The distinguished panelists ensured that discussions on the responsible and effective management of information in the healthcare sector were positioned within the context of the rapid technological advancements in the industry.
The Medical University of Łódź and the Clinical and Didactic Center of the Medical University of Łódź were the conference’s academic partners.
