On 12-15 May the 60^th National and 18^th  International Conference Juvenes Pro Medicina, was held and organised by Students Scientific Society, Medical University of Lodz.  Four days were filled with scientific papers presentations in over 20 sessions, lectures given by specialists and workshop sessions run by the Conference partners and members of students scientific clubs. The event was topped out with the formal Gala with the presentation of awards to the winners in particular sessions.

This year’s Juvenes Pro Medicina was a unique event: we celebrated two significant anniversaries and, for the first time in the history of the Conference, the Plenary Session was held and participated by the award winners. The major award: three one-time scholarships of €200 each was funded by FUMED, the Foundation for the Medical University of Lodz.

The conference was organised in a hybrid mode. Active participants presented their papers onlineon a specially designed conference platform. The workshops and Gala ceremony were held on-site. Passive participants had an opportunity to listen to the lectures given by Polish and foreign lecturers and to take part in the workshops. The selection was fairly wide, ranging from surgical suturing, via workshops on echocardiography, endoscopy, wound cleansing, USG FAST protocol, to training on metanalysis. The participants of the workshops could also use the modern equipment at the Medical Simulation Centre under the guidance of the members of student scientific clubs.

The event was attended by over 500 participants with foreigners constituting over one third of them.  We trust that next year’s conference will be a success of a similar magnitude.
