Polish School of Medicine at the University of Edinburgh
As part of our collaboration with the Polish School of Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, we are providing the Spring 2023 Newsletter with information on scholarship programmes.
The clocks have changed and we have lost an hour’s sleep over the weekend, but today the sun is giving us that ‘good feel factor’ after a night of sub-zero temperatures and in advance of the rainy days ahead! Spurred on by the sunshine, and before the Easter break is upon us, I am pleased to send you this brief update on recent Polish School of Medicine Memorial Fund, Bóloz- Kulesza Trust Fund and Dr James and Bożena Bain Memorial Fund scholarship activity.
1. Scholarships update — short courses
The scholarship programme continues to attract interest in several programmes. The CT Cardiac level II courses (both the face-to-face and online versions) and the Edinburgh Summer School in Clinical Education are usually very popular.
A 2-day online CT Thoracic course was held on 27th and 28th February 2023, and we had one scholar participating in the course.
The next CT Cardiac Level 2 course will take place from 31st May to 4th June 2023. We have three scholars, all funded by the Polish School of Medicine Memorial Fund, coming to Edinburgh for the in-person course. They will be staying on the University’s Pollock Halls Campus, a short walk from the course venue. I am very grateful to Dr Jacek Kwiecinski and former course participants who continue to encourage new application for these courses based on their own personal experience of them.
A call for Applications for the 4-day Edinburgh Summer School in Clinical Education 2023 has been sent out. This year the dates have been moved back a week and the course will run from the 21st to 24th August 2023. Four scholarships will be available.
There is also a link to the scholarship application information from the course web site. Applications for a scholarship and enquiries about the scholarship should be directed to the Scholarship Coordinator at: PSMscourse@ed.ac.uk. The closing date for applications is is 23.59hrs (GMT) on Wednesday May 31st 2023.
2. Scholarships update – the Main Scholarship Programme academic year 2023/2024
A call for applications was sent out in January 2023. The closing date for applications is Monday 26th June at 23.59 BST. Information about these scholarship opportunities is available on the University of Edinburgh Scholarship web site. For further information, please see:
