On December 6, 2023, Prof. Lucyna Woźniak, Vice-Rector for Research Strategy and International Relations and Paweł Zawieja, Vice-Chancellor for Organisation and Development  officially opened a new MUL unit:  Welcome Centre and Friendly Points as its supporting units.

Welcome Centre is part of International Cooperation Office located on the 2^nd floor of the Centre for Information and Library at 2 Muszyńskiego St. The Centre operates as an information and contact point for non-English-speaking people and focuses mainly on the university internationalisation and services provided for visiting professors.

The tasks assigned to Welcome Centre fall within the range of the goals of MUL Development Strategy for 2021-2025, including:

• an increase of internationalisation of university staff via a supporting system for effective service for non-English-speaking employees,
• assistance and mentoring in accordance with EURAXESS standard (providing info on the hosting country’s culture and language, accommodation, health care services, assistance in hosting families, visa formalities, insurance etc.)
• training for the University employees with a view to providing top services (language courses, intercultural training),
• coordination of the repository of documents in English compilation.

Welcome Centre will be supported by Friendly Points accountable for professional service in English within the range of the competence of a given unit  (e.g. recruitment process, finance and tax, IT services).

Welcome Centre is also engaged in the implementation of NAWA project Welcome to UMED: improvement of quality and efficiency of service for foreigners at Medical University of Lodz”.
