White Coat Ceremony 2025
On December 11, 2025, the White Coat Ceremony for student of English Division of the Medical University of Lodz took place in Aula 1000. The ceremony was hosted by Kimberly Sebastian, a final year medical student. We were honored by the presence of:
- Prof. Lucyna Woźniak, MD, PhD – Vice-Rector for International Relations
- Sebastian Kłosek, MD, PhD – Vice-Dean for English Division Studies, Faculty of Medicine
as well as the academic teachers presenting the white coats:
- Prof. Anna Wiktorowska-Owczarek – Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology
- Dr Jacek Kabziński – Department of Clinical Chemistry and Biochemistry
- Dr Agnieszka Pacyk – Department of General Dentistry
- Dr Agnieszka Wierzchniewska-Ławska – Department of Pathomorphology
This year’s ceremony gathered a total of 99 students of the Medicine and Dentistry programs, representing 38 countries from all continents.
As every year, the event featured inspiring speeches delivered by both university authorities and the students themselves. During her address, prof. Lucyna Woźniak conveyed congratulations on behalf of the entire University Authorities, emphasizing that entering the clinical years marks a milestone in the students’ education. She highlighted that putting on the white coat, although symbolic, carries a profound meaning and a commitment to preparing for the medical profession—a profession dedicated to becoming guardians of health, advocates of life, and voices of hope.
Prof. Sebastian Kłosek noted that students are leaving behind laboratory and seminar rooms and stepping into clinical wards, where they will be guided by physicians of various specialties. These mentors will introduce them to the realities of hospital work and everyday clinical practice.
Speeches were also delivered by:
- Carine Nassif – the Chair of the English Division Student Council, 4th year medical student
- Ali Hasan Syed – the year representative of the cohort beginning clinical training
The ceremony featured vocal performances by Kimberly Sebastian and Michelle Mathew, who performed Hallelujah together, as well as an original spoken word poem presented by Muntaha Matloob.
The tradition of the White Coat Ceremony is an important event for the English-speaking academic community. This symbolic transition into the world of clinical medicine marks not only the beginning of a new stage of education but also the formation of a future physician’s professional identity. We extend our congratulations to all students and wish them meaningful and rewarding experiences throughout their clinical training.
