We invite you to the next meeting in the “Thursdays with Science” series—an initiative aimed at popularizing contemporary scientific research and creating a space for conversation between researchers, students, and doctoral candidates.

The guest speaker will be Professor Przemko Tylżanowski, Ph.D., DSc, N.B., from the University of Leuven (Belgium) and the Medical University of Lublin, who will deliver a lecture entitled “Fishing for Cancer. Zebrafish in a Hospital.”

The lecture will focus on the use of the zebrafish model in cancer research and its role in the development of modern experimental and translational oncology. Participants will learn how research conducted at the laboratory level can translate into future clinical applications.

Professor Przemko Tylżanowski, Ph.D., DSc, N.B., is a biologist and researcher with many years of experience in developmental biology and biomedical research. He is a professor at the University of Leuven (Belgium), where he conducts research in areas such as: He studies the mechanisms of tissue differentiation and the use of animal models, particularly zebrafish, in research on cancer and developmental processes.

He is also affiliated with the Medical University of Lublin, and his achievements include numerous scientific publications and participation in international research projects in the fields of developmental biology, genetics, and experimental medicine.

Professor Przemko Tylżanowski is also a partner in the doctoral education agreement at the Doctoral School of Molecular Medicine of the Medical University of Lodz, actively supporting the development of young scientists and international teaching and research collaboration.

The lecture will take place on January 29, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. 12:00 PM in the BraIn Laboratory Complex (room 0.09)
