Diplomas for English Division Graduates of 2019


On 21 June 2019, a ceremony was held in Aula 1000 at MUL Clinical and Didactic Centre,  where the graduates of the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, for Studies in English, received their graduate diplomas. The total of this year’s graduates reached 115. The event was organised by the Office for Administrative Management of Studies in English.

The ceremony attracted over 300 guests including families and friends of the graduates who arrived in Lodz from as far as: Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Norway, Canada, China, Sweden, USA, even Australia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Malesia.

Prof. Sebastian Kłosek, Representative of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Studies in English, was the host of the ceremony.

The representatives of MUL authorities who honoured the ceremony with their presence included:

  • Vice-Rector for Organisation and Student Affairs – prof.  Janusz Piekarski
  • Dean of The Faculty of Medicine– prof. Marzenna Zielińska
  • Dean of The Military Medical Faculty– prof. Jurek Olszewski
  • Representative of Rector for International Exchange and Vice-Dean for Teaching at the Faculty of Medicine– prof.  Jacek Rożniecki
  • Vice-Dean for Study Programme and Evaluation of the Division of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine  prof. Joanna Szczepańska
  • Vice-Dean for Teaching of the Division of Dentistry at the Faculty of Medicine – prof. Monika Łukomska-Szymańska
  • Representative of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Education Development – prof. Anna Korycka-Wołowiec
  • Representative of the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for Promotion and Internationalisation – prof. Justyn Ochocki

The ceremony was also attended by Her Excellency Reina Harbel, The Ambassador of Lebanon :

The National Anthem was followed by gratulations in speeches given by MUL authorities.

The Hippocratic Oath taken by the graduates was the highlight of the ceremony. The diplomas were then collected after short speeches given by the administration coordinators to the students they had looked after.

MUL rewarded students for the best academic results:

  • Kristina Kalanjali John – 6-year course in Medicine
  • Henrik Hosen –4-year course in Medicine
  • Łukasz Natanek –5-year course in Medicine and Dentistry

The best students were warmly applauded when receiving diplomas and gifts.

After short speeches by the rewarded students, Shraddha Nair, the President of MUL English Division Student Government, presented the awards for the remarkable contribution for the government activity to the following students:

  • Kamila Swietoslawski – 6-year course in Medicine
  • Abdulaziz Alsmail – 6-year course in Medicine
  • Samuel Grabski – 6-year course in Medicine
  • Kristina Kalanjali John – 6-year course in Medicine

Outstanding contribution for academic community was also rewarded:

  • Isao Yoshida – 6-year course in Medicine
  • Łukasz Natanek – 5-year course in Medicine and Dentistry

The late Folake Olomo a 4-year course in Medicine student was posthumously awarded. Her death was honoured with a symbolic 1-minute silence. Mrs Folake’s children collected a certificate and gifts and the eldest daughter expressed their gratitude.

By tradition, the graduates also awarded the best academic teachers and this year’s awards went to:

  • Lekarz Mateusz Staciwa from the Clinic of Internal Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology – 6-year course in Medicine
  • Marcin Tkaczyk from the Chair of Pediatrics and Developmental Immunology– 4-year course in Medicine
  • Dr Patrycja Pietrzak from the Department of Orthodontics– 5-year course in Medicine and Dentistry

A performance given by the university’s choir was the final part of the ceremony, which was enthusiastically welcomed by all the guests, and the traditional academic anthem, ‘Gaudeamus igitur’, rounded off the event.

 

The graduate caps were then thrown in the air and the cameras started rolling to record the unforgettable and unique moments.

It is noteworthy that, as was the case previous in years, the ceremony was broadcast live via Intranet. The whole event could therefore be watched from any corner of the world.
