ELEVEN EUROPEAN PARTNERS ARE IMPLEMENTING THE HEALTH LABS4VALUE PROJECT, AIMED AT IMPROVING PATIENT CARE IN CENTRAL EUROPE.
Eleven partners from six European countries have initiated the Health Labs4Value project, aimed at improving patient-centered digital solutions in the healthcare sector. Polish partners in this project include the Medical University of Łódź and the Central Clinical Hospital of the Medical University of Łódź.
The project, funded by the Interreg Central Europe program, will involve five regional Living Labs in Hungary, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Poland. These Living Labs will serve as platforms for collaboration where healthcare providers, companies, policymakers, patients, and their families can co-create and test digital solutions to improve patient care. All Living Labs will form a transnational network to facilitate knowledge sharing and experience exchange.
“The Health Labs4Value project is a unique opportunity to bring together all key stakeholders from the healthcare sector to work together to improve patient care,” said István Hegedűs, project coordinator. “We believe that by applying the Living Lab methodology, we can develop innovative solutions that are truly patient-centered and can be scaled to benefit patients across Europe”.
Expected benefits of the project include:
- Strengthening the position of patients and their families to improve care quality and reduce costs.
- Enhancing patient safety.
- Delivering high-value care to patients by shifting from a disease-centered to a person-centered approach.
- Improving collaboration within the healthcare system.
Regional Living Labs: At the country level, the Living Labs will identify specific challenges and respond to local needs:
- Slovenia: The goal of the Living Lab in Slovenia is to enable patients with injuries to improve the quality of their rehabilitation in a home environment.
- Germany: The Living Lab in Germany focuses on supporting elderly individuals to help them maintain independence and function as autonomously as possible in their home environment.
- Poland: The Living Lab in Poland aims to improve the efficiency of medical and non-medical staff in patient administration and care through digitalization and the implementation of new technologies, such as biometric signatures.
- Hungary: The goal of the Hungarian Living Lab is to optimize hospital and outpatient care processes, including medical examinations and pre- and post-operative procedures, through case management automation and innovative digital systems.
- Czech Republic: The Czech Living Lab focuses on new technology to support long-term education and home care for chronically ill patients, helping monitor patients’ conditions in a home care setting with remote engagement from medical staff.
The Health Labs4Value project will be carried out over three years with a budget of 2.19 million euros.
