The Medical University of Lodz has maintained its position in the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, which includes 2,191 universities from around the world, including 42 from Poland.

In this year’s edition, MUL was placed in the 801–1000 band, thus retaining its 4th position among Polish universities. The university received its highest score in the “Research Quality” category, where it ranked 2nd nationally.

In the subject-based ranking, comparing universities worldwide by discipline, the Medical University of Lodz took 3rd place (ex aequo with the Medical University of Gdańsk) in the Medical and Health category.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings are based on five key pillars, measured through 18 carefully selected indicators:

1. Teaching – the learning environment
2. Research Environment – including research reputation, income, and productivity
3. Research Quality – assessing citation impact, research strength, excellence, and influence
4. International Outlook – evaluating international staff and students, as well as cross-border research collaboration
5. Industry – measuring income and patents generated through collaboration with industry

The ranking methodology is regularly updated to reflect the evolving landscape of global higher education.
