During today’s press briefing, Marcin Martyniak, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Health, handed over checks for a total of over PLN 200 million to the Medical University of Lodz. The funds will be allocated to the modernisation of selected departments of the university hospitals and the establishment of our university Science and Knowledge Exchange Zone.

Science and Knowledge Exchange Zone project  includes the modernization of the teaching part of the CKD campus (building A2), adaptation of 3 internal patios and other unused parts of the building (with a total area of ​​over 2,000 m²). The project will include, among others: quiet study rooms and multimedia rooms for group work or workshops.

The needs of our students and academic teachers have changed over the recent period. The new project will enable us to effectively address the needs. We want the university’s Teaching Centre to serve not only the purpose of classes, but also integration, exchange of knowledge and student activities within scientific clubs and project groups, says Prof. Radzisław Kordek, MUL Rector.

The following university hospitals are also the beneficiaries of the funds from the Ministry of Health:

• Central University Hospital Medical University of Lodz received over PLN 80 million for the modernization and expansion of the Hospital’s infrastructure and additional medical equipment.
• Norbert Barlicki University Hospital of the Medical University of Lodz obtained over PLN 11 million for the modernisation of the Clinical Department of Ophthalmology and support for the hospital’s technical infrastructure, including additional medical equipment and devices.
• Military Medical Academy University Hospital of the Medical University of Lodz received over PLN 50 million to be invested in the modernization of the Primary and Outpatient Specialist Care Centre and medical equipment.
