The Medical University of Lodz joined the honourable group of signatories of Magna Charta Universitatum (MCU). The official ceremony od the document signing was held at Lodz University on 25 October 2023 and was attended by 36 rectors of Polish and foreign universities. MUL was represented by Prof. Lucyna Woźniak, Vice-Rector for Research Strategy and International Relations.

The Magna Charta Universitatum 2020 is a declaration and affirmation of the fundamental principles upon which the mission of universities should be based. The original MCU was signed in 1988  and focused on academic freedom and institutional autonomy. The updated version has been expanded in order to emphasise the global nature of today’s universities, their civic role and responsibility as well as  activities for sustainable development.
