Polish Science Day
Science begins with a question.
With a refusal to accept the status quo.
From the need to understand and change reality for the better.
On 19 February, we celebrate Polish Science Day – a holiday established to emphasise the importance of science for the development of the country, the economy and the quality of life.
The date is not accidental – it is the birthday of Nicolaus Copernicus, a symbol of intellectual courage and breaking patterns of thinking.
At the Medical University of Lodz, science is the foundation of our activities. We combine basic research with clinical practice, develop innovative technologies, and carry out clinical trials and translational projects that have a real impact on the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Today:
🔹 we are conducting 56 research projects,
🔹 in 2025, we obtained over PLN 230 million for research development,
🔹 we are conducting 72 projects financed by the National Science Centre with a total value of PLN 20 million.
These are not just numbers.
These are research teams, laboratories, grants, publications, doctorates.
These are hours of work, courage in testing new hypotheses and responsibility for the quality of research.
Polish Science Day is a time to thank everyone who contributes to it – scientists, doctors, doctoral students, students and staff supporting the research process.
Because science does not happen only on special occasions.
At MUL, it happens every day.
