Prof. Antoni Dziatkowiak: doctor honoris causa of Medical University of Lodz
On 28th November 2019, at the formal sitting of MUL Senate, the title of doctor honoris causa of Medical University of Lodz was awarded to prof. Antoni Dziatkowiak, an eminent cardiologist, an academic teacher for a number of generations of students and physicians, and a specialist for whom a fight for human health has always been the top priority.
The Head of 2nd Clinic of Cardiology of MUL’s Chair of Cardiology, Cardiosurgery and Vacular Ddiseases, Prof. Jarosław Drożdż was the supervisor of honoris causa doctoral dissertation, while prof. Jacek Różański, National Consultant in Cardiology, was the reviewer of the thesis.
The list of guests included the representatives of leading cardiology and cardiosurgery centers, the Laureate’s family and friends as well as such esteemed guests as:
prof. Marian Zembala, former Minister of Health,
prof. Dariusz Gawin, Vice Rector for Innovation and Development, Technical University of Lodz
prof. Kazimierz Widenka, President of Club of Polish Cardiac Surgeons.
In a formal laudation Prof. Drożdż summarised a long list of prof. Dziatkowiak’s merits and achievements, which was a true portrait of the Laureate as an unquestionable authority, outstanding personality and a great medical specialist.
Prof. Dziatkowiak gave a very emotional speech interspersed with personal reflections and memories. On many occasions he drew our attention to his strong relationship with our town and University which was not only the source of professional experiences but also the origin of unforgettable memories and lasting friendship.
The ceremony full of emotions, the Laureate’s smile and good humour are bound to be remembered by all the guests for long.
