On March 18, 2024, The Electoral College of the Medical University of Lodz elected the MUL Rector for the 2024 – 2028 term. Prof. Janusz Piekarski was appointed Rector Elect. 

Prof. Piekarski was the only candidate for the position and the 2024 – 2028 term  is going to be his first term. 

By his election, Prof. Piekarski  had served as Vice-Rector for Organizational and Student Affairs and the first deputy of the Rector, Prof. Radzisław Kordek. 

Voter turnout reached  87%. 384 electors took part in the vote, 353 of whom voted “for”, 10 “against” and 21 electors abstained. 

In his speech the newly elected Rector thanked for the voters’ trust and emphasised that, as declared, he would continue the mission of MUL development with great commitment.  The Rector Elect is beginning his term on September 1, 2024.
