PROF. LUCYNA WOŹNIAK, VICE-RECTOR FOR INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS, SIGNS WARSAW DECLARATION OF WOMEN FOR THE FUTURE OF BREAKTHROUGH TECHNOLOGIES

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Lucyna Woźniak, Vice-Rector for International Relations at the Medical University of Lodz, took part in the European Summit of Women Leaders in Science and Technology, held on June 5, 2025, in Warsaw. The event was organized in parallel with the 7th edition of the “Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit”.

This pioneering summit was created in response to the growing need to promote gender equality in science and technology and to address the challenges posed by the underrepresentation of women in these sectors. It brought together more than 100 high-profile participants — women presidents, rectors, research institution directors, ministers, and renowned scientists from the EU, the United States, the Middle East, and Central Asia.

Prof. Woźniak chaired the panel “Knowledge Integrity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”, focusing on how AI is transforming the creation, access, and trust in knowledge. The discussion also addressed the evolving paradigms of research and the urgent need to protect intellectual integrity in a rapidly changing digital landscape.

One of the most important outcomes of the summit was the signing of the “Warsaw Declaration of Women for the Future of Breakthrough Technologies.” This landmark document emphasizes the critical role of women in driving innovation and advocates for the responsible and ethical development of technology for the collective benefit of society.

The summit also laid the foundation for the creation of a prestigious global network of women leaders in science and technology, offering a united voice for women in leadership roles across academia and industry. This is the first initiative of its kind with the potential for broad and lasting impact.

Participants also discussed the launch of the “BETTER Initiative” — a flagship program aimed at encouraging research institutions, tech companies, and innovation centers to explore and develop solutions in under-researched areas related to women’s health and well-being.
