During the Alliance4Life (A4L) Board meeting held on 18 September in Warsaw, new leadership of the organization was elected. Professor Toivo Maimets from the University of Tartu was appointed Chair of A4L, while the position of Vice-Chair was entrusted to Professor Lucyna Woźniak from the Medical University of Lodz.

Alliance4Life was established in 2018 to strengthen research management quality in Central and Eastern Europe and to help close the innovation gap between the EU13 countries and other European Union member states. Since its inception, the Alliance has been actively working to build a stronger European Research Area, promoting institutional collaboration and best practices in science.

Professor Maimets, one of the co-founders of Alliance4Life, has served as Vice-Chair in recent years. His appointment as Chair reflects trust in his vision and experience, both as an outstanding biologist and a leader in science policy. His term is expected to continue the Alliance’s successful activities while also opening new directions for growth and development.

Professor Lucyna Woźniak, Vice-Rector for International Relations at the Medical University of Lodz, brings to Alliance4Life extensive expertise in biomedical research, university management, and active participation in European scientific initiatives.

The Chair and Vice-Chair of Alliance4Life represent the organization in relations with European institutions, oversee its strategic development, and support cooperation among member organizations. They also promote the Alliance’s core values: scientific integrity, responsible governance, openness, and sustainable development.
