PROFESSOR NOMINATION FOR MARIUSZ GRZESIAK MD PhD
We are pleased to announce that Mariusz Grzesiak MD PhD, Professor of the Medical University of Łódź and Head of the 2nd Department and Clinic of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, has been awarded the title of professor by decision of the President of the Republic of Poland.
Professor Grzesiak graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical Academy in Łódź in 1996. He is a specialist in gynaecology, obstetrics, and perinatology. He has been associated with the Medical University of Łódź for many years, where he currently serves as Head of the 2nd Department and Clinic of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the Faculty of Health Sciences. He also works at the “Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital – Research Institute” in Łódź, where he leads the Department of Perinatology, Obstetrics, and Gynaecology and is a member of the Institute’s Scientific Council.
His scientific achievements include co-authorship of numerous publications, textbook chapters, and recommendations in the fields of perinatology, prenatal diagnostics, and foetal therapy. He has participated in many national and international research projects, both as principal investigator and as a member of research teams. Notably, he represented the only Polish centre involved in the international multicentre study TRUFFLE-2 (Trial of Randomized Umbilical and Foetal Flow in Europe), funded by Imperial College London and the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR and CR). His clinical and research expertise has been further enriched through international fellowships in Israel, Colombia, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
Professor Grzesiak has received numerous awards, including scientific distinctions from the Rector of the Medical University of Łódź and from the Director of the Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital – Research Institute. In 2016, he was named the best English-language lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine by students. Since 2015, he has served as Regional Consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology for the Łódź Voivodeship. In 2024, he was honoured with the Medal of Merit for Health Services, awarded by the Minister of Health.
He is an active member of the Polish Society of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians (PTGiP), the Polish Society of Perinatal Medicine (PTMP), and the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ISUOG).
