RECRUITMENT TO INTERNATIONAL DOCTORAL SCHOOL AT MEDICAL UNIVERSITY OF LODZ


Medical University of Lodz announces recruitment to the International Doctoral School for the academic year 2020/2021

Education at International Doctoral School:

– includes 8 semesters and is completed with a submission of a doctoral dissertation;

– prepares students to obtain a PhD degree in medical sciences and health sciences in the following scientific disciplines:

  • pharmaceutical sciences,
  • medical sciences,
  • health sciences;

The recruitment procedure for International Doctoral School is based on the competition and its principles are defined in Resolution No. 360/2020 of 30th January 2020 by the Senate of Medical University of Lodz on the Rules of Recruitment to International Doctoral School for the academic year 2020/2021. The recruitment procedure is carried out in accordance with the recruitment schedule established by the Rector by way of Ordinance No. 43/2020 of 18 May, 2020 on the recruitment plan for International Doctoral School for the academic year 2020/2021

The candidate is required to comply with the deadlines specified in the recruitment schedule.

The candidate who can apply for the admission to the International Doctoral School must be a relevant higher education school graduate who:

  1. holds Master of Arts or Master of Engineering or an equivalent degree;
  2. obtained a written consent of the future doctoral research supervisor to take care of a PhD candidate’s work on doctoral dissertation;
  3. is not a doctoral student at any other doctoral school.

The candidate is obliged to submit to the recruitment committee, via The Office of Doctoral Studies, by the dates specified in the recruitment schedule, the following documents:

  1. the application for admission to the Rector, submitted via the Head of the Doctoral School; the application must include: personal data, research project topic, a signature of the future doctoral research supervisor as a confirmed consent to supervise the candidate’s PhD dissertation, the candidates education and scientific achievements; the application template is specified in Appendix No 2 (for Polish citizens) and Appendix No 3 ( for foreigners);
  2. an original or a copy of the diploma of second-cycle or long-cycle MA studies or a certificate issued by the Dean’s Office confirming that you graduated from second-cycle or long-cycle MA studies and received Master of Arts or Master of Engineering or an equivalent degree;
  3. a certificate of grade point average of first-, second- or long-cycle MA studies or oversees courses graduated and recognised as equivalent to first-, second- or long-cycle MA studies;
  4. research proposal of up to three A4 pages, referred to in § 7 para. 3, with the opinion given by the Head of the Chair which includes the organisational unit employing the candidate’s potential doctoral supervisor; if the organisational unit is allocated outside the Chair structure the project is assessed by the Head of the Chair of a similar profile;
  5. proof of scientific achievements from the previous 5 years including their listing, particularly: copies of published scientific papers, conference presentations, diplomas of Students Scientific Societies or other scientific societies, Rector’s Awards for the best students and graduates or Minister’s Awards;
  6. certificates of: participation in students exchange programmes, participation in the individualised course of studies (ITS), graduation from postgraduate studies, completed or ongoing specialisation course (if applicable);
  7. documents certifying the knowledge of additional modern foreign language (other than the language of the entrance examination) (if applicable);
  8. two current ID photos, (signed on the back);
  9. if the candidate has a certificate of disability or the degree of disability or the certificate referred to in Art. 5 and Art. 62 of the Act of 27 August 1997 on Vocational and Social Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities (i.e. Journal of Laws 2018, item 511), a copy of the certificate must be included.
  10. The candidate with a diploma confirming completion of higher education abroad, which, according to the provisions of the Act, is equivalent to relevant Polish education at second- or long-cycle MA studies or is recognised as such a diploma and professional title of Master of Arts or Master of Engineering or equivalent, is obliged to submit: a legalised or Apostilled diploma, a certificate of the nostrification procedure which determined the Polish equivalence of a foreign diploma and professional title (if required by the regulations)
  11. All the documents in English shall be submitted with their Polish translation by a sworn translator.
  12. Foreigners are allowed to send scans of documents required in the recruitment proceedings with their Polish translation by e-mail, on condition that they are submitted within the dates specified in the recruitment schedule and the original documents are delivered to The Office of Doctoral Studies no later than one day before the date of the entrance examination in English. In this case, the date of the e-mail sent with the attached scans of all the required documents with their translation is considered as the date of the document submission.

 

The full set of documents shall be submitted in a signed white cardboard folder between 1st and 23rd July 2020 after a prior appointment with the Office of Doctoral Studies made by e-mail sent to: cod@umed.lodz.pl  with the following e-mail subject: name and surname – IDS recruitment – appointment booking

Candidates are serviced individually, observing the principles set out in Regulation 48/2020 of 22 May 2020 of the Rector of Medical University of Lodz on the gradual lifting of restrictions on the activities of Medical University of Lodz related to prevention of the spread of SARS-CoV-2 virus among members of Medical University of Lodz community.

Documents submitted after the aforementioned date will not be accepted for the recruitment proceedings at the International Doctoral School.
