RECTOR’S STATEMENT ON SARS-COV-2 VACCINATION

Ladies and Gentleman, Employees, Doctoral Students and Students at MUL

With regard to the current epidemic situation and the initiated vaccination programme, I urgently call and strongly recommend to get vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 to all the employees, students and doctoral students.

The vaccination offers a chance of a safe return to clinical classes at university hospitals, which is a priority for the education and training of medical personnel of MUL. It is unthinkable for the medical university students and employees to question the significance of SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. During the pandemic, when the health care system is too heavily burdened, when people are dying, when both patients and hospital stuff suffer from the infection, inoculation becomes the only chance to protect ourselves and others against severe disease, complications and death.

Extraordinary restrictions are introduced to avoid further crippling of our health care system, which, in turn, turns the life we know upside down. A number of medical goals have been lost or put on hold and the long-awaited vaccines are the only way out of the crisis. We, medical specialists, should be at the front line of the vaccination scheme, otherwise, what we do ceases to make sense and we lose our credibility.

Safe work and training in the university hospitals will be determined by the completed vaccination which will thereby provide the ground for the management of health care entities to grant access to hospital premises.

The so called ‘0’ group can continue sign in for the vaccination. Today, the University opens the registration for MUL employees and students to get vaccinated in Lodz university hospitals.

The registration will be held until 12th January by 3 p.m.
