The International Open Access Week
Community over commerciality” is the International Open Access Week theme, which will take place from October 23-29, 2023. These days, academic institutions, libraries, scientists, and students worldwide organise events promoting open access to scientific content (Open Access).
This year’s UNESCO Recommendations on Open Science, adopted by 193 member states, emphasise prioritising communities over-commercialisation. They suggest preventing “unfair extraction of profits from publicly funded scientific activities” and supporting “non-commercial publishing models and models of co-publishing without fees for article processing.”
On the occasion of International Open Access Week, we invite you to participate in events organised by the Information and Library Center:
I. Escape Room Game – Research Data
When: October 25, 2023 (Wednesday) 1:00 p.m
Where: Patio, Information and Library Center, ul. Muszyńskiego 2, 90-151 Łódź
During the game, players will look for a way out of subsequent rooms, breaking through a thicket of puzzles related to research data. Thanks to the intriguing and engaging form of the game, participants will go through the entire life cycle of research data.

II. Webinar “How not to fall into the traps of predatory magazines”
When: October 27, 2023 (Friday), at 11.00-12.00

The criteria the author should follow during the training when choosing the journal he wants to publish will be presented.
