THE WUR 2027: UMED once again among the world’s top universities
In the latest edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027, the Medical University of Łódź was ranked in the 801–1000 bracket of the world’s top universities. Among Polish higher education institutions, UMED tied for 3rd place with the University of Warsaw. Only the Medical University of Wrocław and the Jagiellonian University were ranked higher.
This result confirms the Medical University of Łódź’s stable position on the international higher education landscape, as well as the high quality of its research, teaching and international collaboration. The university received particularly high scores in the ‘Research Quality’ category, which has remained its strongest indicator in the THE ranking methodology for many editions.
UMED’s strong position is also confirmed by its results in the Times Higher Education Medical and Health Rankings 2026, which covers institutions active in the fields of medicine, dentistry, nursing and health sciences. In this ranking, the Medical University of Łódź was placed in the 601–800 range of the world’s best universities in its field.
The Times Higher Education rankings are among the most prestigious and influential higher education rankings in the world. They assess universities on the basis of indicators relating to the quality of education, research potential, the impact of academic publications, engagement with the socio-economic environment, and the level of internationalisation. The 2027 edition of the world university rankings included 2,297 universities from 118 countries and territories.
