UMED in the Rhythm of Cultures – a Special Evening at the CKD

On 28 November, the “Cultural Evening” took place at the CKD building on Pomorska 251, organized by the Council of English-speaking Students in cooperation with the Centre for the Organisation and Support of English-language Studies. The aim of the event was to showcase the diverse countries and cultures represented by our English-speaking students and to strengthen integration between Polish and international students studying at our University.

The Centre for the Organisation and Support of English-language Studies extends its sincere thanks to the representatives of IFMSA and PTSS, who for the second year in a row joined the event by organizing traditional St. Andrew’s Day fortune-telling and presenting Polish folk dances, ensuring that local cultural accents were not missing.

During the event, as part of the presentation cycle, participants could learn interesting—and often little-known—facts about the history, cuisine and customs of the countries our students come from. This year, we “travelled” to places such as Romania, Kenya and Tunisia.

As always, the evening included an exceptional selection of regional dishes. Guests had the unique opportunity to taste cuisine from Korea, Tunisia, Malaysia and many other countries. A traditional artistic segment also took place — students from India, Lusophone African countries, Nigeria and Turkey performed dances and songs from their homelands. The audience reacted enthusiastically, rewarding the performances with applause and eventually joining a collective dance led by students from IFMSA and PTSS — a perfect finale to the event.

The evening gathered representatives of the University Authorities, academic teachers, administrative staff and a large number of students — both international and Polish. The wonderful atmosphere created an opportunity for meaningful integration and cultural exchange among all participants.
